Residential Program

The Mission of the Residential Program is to provide a safe and caring program for children and youth ages 12-20 that inspires hope for the future and stresses personal responsibility within an atmosphere of respect for everyone.

UMHC Residential Icon

Residential Program is available on UMHC's campus for males and females, ages 12 through 20, who are referred by county children and youth agencies and family courts, or who are unable to live with their families or within foster care placements. The youth may be: dependent, neglected, and/or abused; status offenders; emotionally disturbed; and pre-delinquent or delinquent. Residential care is provided in living units that house 6-10 youths staffed by dedicated childcare workers who provide round-the-clock guidance, structure, nurturance, and discipline to the youth on campus. Care starts with admission, when a team of UMHC professionals meet with the resident, parents, and county caseworkers or probation officers to develop an Individual Service Plan with projected length of placement, specific goals, and visitation plans.

Childcare workers carry out the plan, make adjustments when needed, and coach age-appropriate life skills.
